Baby Girl's Story. I got Baby Girl as an 8 week old pup from a breeder in Oregon, just before she was 2 yrs old she was diagnosed with collapsing trachea. I had her spayed the next day as she was due to come in heat soon. When I contacted the breeder I had bought her from, I was told that collapsing trachea was "normal" in poms, and nothing to be concerned about and that many show poms have collapsing trachea. I refuse to breed any dog with a known problem, so she was spayed and never bred. I could not accept that it was "normal" for poms to have collapsing trachea, none of mine have had it before or since. I will Never accept it as normal. Anyway, as time went on Baby Girl kept getting worse, and was having a lot of problems breathing and when a lady contacted me wanting a pet, she had just lost her pom 3 days before from collapsing trachea and couldn't sleep. I told her about my Baby Girl, and she took her home where she had a humidifier and no stairs etc, and we both thought Baby Girl would be able to breathe & cope better. She has for the last 4 yrs, but the lady is now doing bird rescue and the birds are aggravating Baby Girls condition severely again, and she had went back to school full time so no longer had the time needed to properly care for Baby Girl, who had gotten severly obese, and since I had moved to the country, I was happy to get Baby Girl back, she has always been my "heart" dog, and a cherished pet, and I thank God I had kept in touch, and visited when possible with Baby Girl as she has never forgotten me, and is finally back home. I had missed her so much while she was gone, but it was the best thing for her at the time for her to go to a new home. She is a very sweet loving girl and I will always love and cherish her time with me for as long as it may be. I pray I have many more years with her, but will cherish each day with her back in my life. She loves everyone, and her page will remain on my site always even after she goes to the rainbow bridge or if she one day is to go to a new pet home. |
